Meandering

Have you ever wondered what has happened to Canada, our society as a whole, and why?

What forces are at play in this country, and is it due to an ideology, or a natural change?

I’ve wondered, and looking back I think I’ve been wondering since I was sixteen. Maybe it’s the value I place on my family, and the peaceful hindsight I gather thinking back on the years I spent growing up in a small community of 400 in south western Ontario, that have raised the alarm. These values where taught or just absorbed from my home, my community, my teachers, actually my country as a whole, that now seem so different once removed from the community I live in now, coincidently close to where I grew up.

Peace seems to be in a short supply in Canada, people seem in such a hurry, life seems so fragmented to many. Simple seems to only have existed or have any virtue when you look back, or look into the eyes of an older Canadian. A clear sense of right and wrong has been replaced by the word tolerance. Responsibility, duty, and the desire to carry each virtue out, have been replaced by excuses that are tolerated. Kids are not allowed to fail, or feel the temporary sting of not being perfect, they are not expected to tow a moral line or even taught there is a moral line. What value do any of these demerits have to individuals and their society.

I believe many once shared strong values. No matter what color you where, or your position on the social ladder, and those same values built strong families and communities. People made there own desisions and believed in them , and government once respected that.

It could be said we where all equal before equal became a household term to our government. Certainly you can say changes where needed though one could argue blind progress and the failure to admit the lack of forth sightedness has brought this country and certain progressive movements of the political left closer to the gutter of denial then a positive truth that gives the whole society a step up.

That’s why I have come to believe that a respect for tradition with a hint of responsible progression would have been much more beneficial to our Canadian society. We have forgotten the one thing Canadians past knew and took to heart and that was the value in keeping life simple. Wrong and right was black and white; you did your best on honest terms, and did not respect those that cut corners for their own benefit. This lead to a society as a whole that held these values at the center of their being, and where cognizant of them, thus making up a country of strong independent individuals.

Many Canadians still hold those values dear but fail to realise, the governments they elected sought to undermine those very values and sabotage them and each year, each decade replace values that freely built this country with values that put a price on the truth and that price was the truth should be hidden, and morals would become neutral.

Instead of families raising responsible citizens, and being respected and unhindered for doing so by government, they became unlikely pawns in a liberal, socialist “experiment”.

That experiment abandoned the past virtues passed down by parents, families, communities, with new and “improved” virtues that needed to be only given meaning by those in power and those that found solace for their own misery by screaming in a compassionate government’s ear. The government started to provide sustenance in the belief life for individuals would become easier, many programs where developed until society eventually became more dependent on government , and government became more dependant of society’s hard earned money and their abilty to sugar coat this fact with lies.

Socialism became a delicate balance easier to manage the more dependent the electorate willingly became, while losing rights to challenge the government
That balance today is not working, for in reality government can never take the responsibility from you even if it tries. Modern liberals and socialists think peacefulness can be bought or provided from government, when it truly has to come from an individual taught by other individuals through life up until they mature mentally and are able to find peace themselves in the simple truth common to life in any FREE country.

Liberals and socialists will always fail in the end; our country is a result of their limited actions and disregard for “better off” (self reliant, responsible, not easy lead) individuals that take pride in themselves.

All our country needs is a leader with integrity that respects wisdom placed upon us from our past, who believes in the individual, and sees a great hope for Canada that exists within our borders and has no responsible limits. No matter if it comes to our military, right down to our social services that can be sustained, not defended with excuses.

A strong conservative can only be the one to give everyone back their country, each citizen their individual voice, and each citizen a freedom they can be proud of, while their country is respected once again by its neighbours.

The only thing it will cost us as our country is some old fashioned repect, the loss of our apathy, a desire for freedom, and a desire for an honest democracy
